Gen Prem sets precedent for Songkran celebration this year

BANGKOK: -- Privy Council of Thailand president Gen Prem Tinsulanonda joined the water conservation campaign launched by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration by using foggy spray to spray water at media representatives coming to wish him and receive his blessing ahead of the long Songkran holidays which start Wednesday.

After blessing military top brass, Gen Prem allowed the turn of media representatives to pour water as a gesture of showing respect to the senior citizen.

He then used a foggy spray to spray water at his media well-wishers as a show of cooperation with the BMA that is encouraging all Songkran celebrants to splash water sparingly, or use foggy sprays instead as now the country is facing the worst water crisis in 20 years.

Translator needs to learn the difference between fog and mist - although one can't blame them when the language itself doesn't differentiate... whistling.gif

Don't care!

Sprayed media with a foggy sprayer.

Should have used a fire hose on reporters.

Most of what they report is distorted crap.

Don't listen to aThai who maybe finished school at 14.

The Thai language did differentiate between these two words.

Good on you prem. I would be happy when this Western influenced nonsense stops.

Bravo for your comment.I couldn't agree more.

Let's help the Thais abolish all that Christmas nonsense, and that awful few days at the end of the year when they have the cow down in all the big cities.

No more ear aching Jinger Bens in the malls either. Peace will return to a traditional, wonderful Thailand. clap2.gif

Where were the drunk ladyboys dancing on kegs of Beer Chang. Mr GP - no Songkran ceremony is complete without them. wai2.gif

When you need 45 characters and 16 vowels to create a Thai vocabulary of fewer than 3,000 words, it is cumbersome at best translating to/from an English vocabulary in excess of a million words.

Ask an intelligent, upscale, Thai male in his late sixties, preferably after a couple of tall whiskeys with light water, for the true skinny on scandalous philandering back in the day and then reread this OP.
