Arbitration Court In Chiangmai?

Featured Replies

Hi there

I'm not hopeful of getting info about this here, will probably have to ask a lawyer, but it's quick so here goes...

Has anyone used or heard of an arbitration panel here in Chiangmai, or had arbitration carried out by a lawyer/lawyers/similar? I know there's one in BKK.

I can only help you out from a BKK perspective. I work with a Judge from the Supreme Court who is a specialist in ADR and Arbitration who may be able to offer advice if you send me the details.... although i would have to ask him first.

Never trust a solicitor in Thailand especially where money is concerned. Most play both sides if they can and maximise their income. No ethics or morals. Probably describes solicitors in any country though.

What experience have you had Loaded that qualifies you to make this statement?

Without fully backing Loadeds' statement I will advise caution in selecting a lawyer.

I've experienced a lawyer corrupted in an arbitration case.

Luckily it was near the start and just after he'd made initial negotiations with the other parties lawyer. This was 1 week before the initial court hearing.

I trusted my gut feelings and caught him before any damage was done.

I changed lawyers with in-court objections raised by the opposing legal team. The court accepted the change and scheduled another hearing 1 month later.

Good job I know the judge then eh! Cut out the middle men that's my policy :o
