Some of these structures were built about the same time your ancestors were painting themselves with woad. They are fragile, so if everyone did as they pleased nothing would be left of them in short order.

I recommend a trip to Halong Bay in Vietnam if you want to see the damage excessive tourism can do.

You are clueless! Tapae Gate was rebuilt about 20 - 30 years ago, and the original Chiangmai walls date back about 400 years only.

The guys using woad date back 2,000 years ago when the Romans first invaded England.

Although the Western wall in Jerusalem is a wall of a Temple, the Temple of David .

Many years ago I was in Bangkok when a German family arrived, checked into their

hotel, then went to the Temple area near the Grande Palace. They seen a big

Chinese style Buddha statue. The Father went to a guard, and gave him the camera,

asking the guard to take their picture. To the guard's surprise, they all climbed onto

the statue. The guard took a few pictures, then more guards showed up and the

family was arrested. Near the statue there was a large sign, that in many languages

including German, said "Do Not Climb On This Statue." The family spent the night

in jail, then took to court the next day. Charged for their trespass on the statue.

They were then taken to the airport with their luggage and made to get onto a

flight back to Germany. This story was published in the Bangkok Post as a front page story.

Not the way to enjoy your vacation in Thailand. People should at least read a little

bit about Thailand, and always read the signs before doing something STUPID.

Where you come from people climb around on building sites? Doesn't matter anyway; there were signs and they were given verbal warnings not to do climb on the wall.

They should be kept in the police lockup overnight for ignoring the police warnings.
