Koh Tao - Hotel recommendations

Recommended Posts

TV,

I'm heading up to Koh Samui for the Samui bike week in May and was looking for recommendations for hotels on Koh Tao.. I'd like to stay someplace I could snorkel from the beach easily and also has a decent pool with a bar (prefer infinity pool).

Any recommendations? I'm planning on spending 2 or 3 nights on Koh Tao.

Thanks.

Kurt

No infinity pool here, but you might want to look at Mango Bay... good for snorkeling and swimming, they have a promotion on from the 3rd of May, pay two nights get 3 nights stay ....

Most hotels/ resorts as far as I remember are not close to good snorkeling spots, so would involve a boat trip to get to those snorkeling areas...

You do realize that is in Vietnam right? I was looking for recommendations for Koh Tao Thailand.

I do agree that is a lovely place.. for my next trip to Vietnam.

Hi Kurt

Not sure how I copied the wrong link there, I think I was trying to avoid the booking company sitesfacepalm.gif

This should be better, although booking dot com.... For Koh Toa!!!

been there, although a few years ago, it's quite a pleasant spot... but away from the crowds of Suree beach! ... and no 7-11's near by! wink.png

Hope that serves you better smile.png

The Murderers's inn , TheRapists' hide-out , so many more.

And also be aware of the peep wholes in the bungalows for the Burmese and Thais

Maybe someone could translate this as it is total gibberish to me. Having lived and worked on the island for years I can't associate either of these two posts to Koh Tao. I can only presume they were written by people who have never been to this beautiful island and simply believe everything they hear and read second and third hand

The OP never mentioned his budget as you can go really exclusive on Tao if money isn't an issue. Also if the OP likes snorkeling then he needs to try the diving there as that is what the vast majority of people go there to do. thumbsup.gif

Lived and worked in KT for a decade in a dive resort. There were several wholes in bungalows, into the bedroom and bathroom. The Burmese boys and Thais alike really enjoyed the ongoing action inside. That was before you could do the streaming porns on your smartphone...don't know if the peep-wholes are actually still in use 555

Sorry I didn't mention a budget because I don't actually have one. Anything from 1000 baht to 10000 baht a night is fine just as long as its A. on the beach and B. AC in the rooms, C. has a decent pool with bar (prefer infinity pool). The pool doesn't even need to be large.. I'd really like to do some snorkeling then do some swimming in the pool whilst enjoying a cold cocktail all the while looking out over the ocean.

Thanks.

If you are not on a budget than I would recommend to have a look at those two gems:

Up on a little hill with a stunning view:

http://www.theplacekohtao.com/

Or directly on the beach:

http://www.saireecottagediving.com/accommodation-sairee-cottage-koh-tao/

Both are owned and managed by foreigner and

No, I'm not the owner of one of them.
