Gecko123
A Thai friend phoned me to tell me about this story. It is apparently all over the Thai language media. Songkran is a religious festival too. What the behavior by the farang here does is further fuel the stereotype-typical view held by many Thais about the disrespectful and disgusting way foreigners behave here in Thailand. It is such behavior that causes the police and immigration and other officialdom to make more stringent and difficult rules for farangs to get visa's and renewals etc. http://news.sanook.com/1980766/ The above Thai language news report describes the incident as a Thai female beer bar employee being suddenly sexually assaulted by a drunk foreigner (kohn tang chat, not farang), but because she was intoxicated, she was unable to fight off the assault. Her co-workers are described as rushing to stop the assault and separate them. Aside from acknowledging she was very intoxicated at the time of the assault, the woman is largely portrayed sympathetically. Suradit69
So why is the face from the lady blurred out, while the foreigners face isn't, she is as much an offender as the foreigner as I didn't noticed from the coverage that you was enjoying the act. Never mind, I know the answer. "as I didn't noticed from the coverage that you was enjoying the act. Never mind, I know the answer." Now if we could only understand the question. And what about the behaviour of the girl out in the street in her underwear so drunk she admitted she couldn't defend herself? As always, Thais are all too ready to blame the classless idiots that are encouraged to come to Thailand by her kind of behaviour (common both on Soi 6 and elsewhere), while seeing themselves as blameless for anything. A Western sex tourist AND a Thai hooker. Not just a falang at fault here.

I agree with you, but setting aside the issues of public lewdness and drunkenness, from a legal standpoint the man does appear to have also commited a sexual assault, insofar as he initiated sexual contact without the consent of the woman. Even if she was a prostitute (and that has not been established) that doesn't give others to sexually assault her with impunity. SO no thais visit hookers, no hookers in Thailand, surely there are more pressing things to worry about eg a major cull on the roads,a non functioning police force, strange happenings in the corridors or power etc etc

elgordo38
Couldn't defend herself and only tried to push Mr Ben away. So she was being raped? I didn't see much pushing, she seemed to be willing and going with the flow. Instead of laughing and smiling why not scream out if you are being attacked. I bet she still has a smile on her face. Jeremy50
A sex-pat with a prostitute. Really who cares. Most Thais I know have their phones chock full of porn, at least if the whole country is <deleted> or <deleted> it will keep them off the lethal roads. When is anyone really going to address that problem? I'm fed up with seeing these 'brain on road' pictures that keep coming up on my facebook feed. cumgranosalum
how could you EVER prove that this has or has not "damaged tourism" - it just goes to show how limited the understanding of the authorities is on this aspect. akentryan
It takes all kinds. Many years ago I ran an tavern in rural North Carolina. A customer, first name of Peabo, was introduced to me as the "p---y eating champion of Iredell County. Seems he had be born without a sense of smell. I would not want to have to count the number of times I've witnessed oral sex (both ways) in a bar in Pattaya. Granted that this is on an open balcony but I'm sure both were loaded to the gills. Wonder if the American is from North Carolina?

Can't hold the yank 100% responsible, the Thai held the keys and with a giggle leased them out to the farang. Yes she said to the police she couldn't fight him off but if you look at the video, she is 50% responsible

Baerboxer
...why do they blur out the photo of the woman...and not the man.... ...are we going to pretend she is innocent.... Stickboybangkok has the uncensored one. Cheers Doc. Wonder what sort of "businessman" he is"? Lucky to be getting away with a fine and possibly some compensation here and there. The young lady was declared innocent - she certainly looks well pissed but just lay back and spread'em. It was the other women around who shot him with water and stopped him. She looks very hung over in the police station whereas he still looks wazzed.
