Long stay playing poker thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am planning to go for at least a half year to Thailand playing poker. It's still a little unclear for me which action to take which allows me to stay for this long. I know there's a Non-Immigrant visa where you can stay 3 times for 90 days a year. I would appreciate if someone could tell which options are available, and if its possible to stay a half year straight in Thailand. Also what should I say when a Customs agent ask about the purpose of my stay. Can I be honest are should I tell him I am just a tourist? I'am from the Netherlands.

Elite visa is a good choice for long term stays. Playing poker online is probably illegal in Thailand.

6 months is not long term. You would be best to get a METV in your country before leaving.

Also i assume you mean online poker, as there are no casinos in Thailand. Online poker is still illegal, but as long as you don't tell every man and his dog you will be ok.

You should read the Thailand thread on the two plus two travel forum. Its full of poker players living here.

Unless your use of the word 'poker' is is short for 'poke her' or something similar, from a legal aspect, as gambling is illegal here, you will likely have a quiet time..............wink.png

Sorry, gambling is illegal in Thailand.
