BANGKOK: -- Police arrested three members of a violent armed gang responsible for at least eleven robberies in northern Bangkok.

The gang members were arrested after the GPS on an iPad mini stolen in a motorcycle snatch on Saturday was traced to rented accomodation in Nonthaburi, INN reports.

Police used the device to track down Pornchai (Geng) Phungjayaem, 32. He was caught red handed while other members of the notorious "Ma Diaw" gang escaped by jumping out of a window and into the Chao Praya river.

Two other unnamed gang members were rounded up at a pier in the area of the Kheman Phirataram temple on Saturday after a manhunt. Drugs, ammunition, cash and the helpful iPad were taken in among a host of evidence found at the rented accommodation.

Pornchai riding a motorcycle had threatened a member of the public outside the White Mall department store in Pracharat Sai 1 on Saturday making off with cash and the iPad.

Police said the gang are responsible mostly for robbery but there is also drug use involved. The robberies were committed with guns or the threat of guns. Nonthaburi police are on the tail of other members of the gang and further arrests are expected.

Why do police in any country advertise the clues that lead them to the crooks,,,

Agreed.

When the US army said that they could track people who use Satellite phones. Bin Laden turned his off and it took 8 more years to find

him and kill him.
