Visa expires on April 30th question about visa run/border crossings

Featured Replies

So my visa is expiring in a little over a week and I was curious being from the United States doing a visa run would it permit me a 15 day or 30 day stay? I'm trying to figure out a cheap way without having to fly living in hua hin it's a pain getting to the airport in bkk thanks all!

  • You will get a 30 day visa exempt entry, but visa exempt entry (out/in) isn't available at all crossings.

If you haven't already extended your current stay you can get a 30 day extension of stay at an immigration office for 1,900 baht.

Already extended for 30 days at immigration so I have to leave the country wish it was easier and I could just go get another 30 day at immigration instead! But just looking for cheap alternatives to flying

Kanchamburi would be the nearest border but they don't allow out/in visa exempt entry.

Ranong is probably the closest option.

Thabk you for the reply! Been stressing the past couple of days

Consider a visa run a holiday, or short getaway.

A one day trip via Don Mueang to Kuala Lumpur looks much less hassle to me than an almost 800 km roundtrip to Ranong?

AirAsia example:

DMK 10:00h - KUL 13:10h

KUL 15:35h - DMK 16:50h

Later flight combinations are available.

Get the overnight sleeper down into Malaysia, goes through HH about 7pm I think.

You can get off at the border and come back or carry on down to Butterworth and have a night in Penang. About 800 baht each way down to Butterworth and also no visa required for Malaysia.
