Sammitr Smart Drive car to serve as high tech vehicle for tourists

BANGKOK, 22 April 2016 (NNT) – A private sector company has joined with public sector agencies to improve transport vehicles for tourists with an eye to pilot a new project in Bangkok within this year.

Sammitr Group has joined with Thailand Research Fund, the National Science Technology and Innovation Office and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to create the “Sammitr Smart Drive” car, an automobile developed specifically for tourism purposes.

The vehicle is equipped with cutting edge technology as well as a high speed Internet connection that allows its riders to search for tourist destinations, hotels and eateries. Moreover, the car has sensors to detect if its driver is drowsy and can connect to other smart phone applications to extend its capabilities. It is expected the new car will be available in Bangkok this year.

Sammitr CEO Sumas Wongsunprat stated he believes the new tourist car will create a new form of tourism and triple Thailand’s foreign visitor numbers. He said in the future, the Sammitr Smart Drive’s technology may also be installed in taxi cabs, police cars and other types of transport vehicles.

And the picture of this treasure is ........?

When the mini van or taxi driver crashes and kills somebody, will it be able to track him when he starts running away?

What a clown....cheesy.gif

How can they even consider using a smart car in Thailand? For it to work it must discern other rational drivers and everyone who has driven in Thailand knows that doesn't exist and is quite the opposite. A smart car can't reach quick enough to avoid some of the crazy things Thai drivers do and more so, don't do

Why is NNT pimping for this company?

No no, he is dead serious, they are also planning to triple to capacity of Suvarnabhumi by the end of next year to be able to handle this increase of tourist....

TAT is in awe already cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Its nearly there, they just have to sort out the last small technicality with the prototype: they cannot find a driver that is not drowsy gigglem.gif

Thought April 1st was 3 weeks ago...

The vehicle is equipped with cutting edge technology

Why not just get a new model smartphone - it not only can deliver the same information but is portable.

And easier to park. wai2.gif

yes, for the taxis, a computer voice says:

"Turn on the meter. Don't rip them off. Blow into tube for alcohol content. Yaba scanner before car will start".

yes, for the BIB, a computer voice says:

"Wake up. Do your job. No corruption. Blow into tube for alcohol content. Yaba scanner before car will start".

Don't confuse the term "Smart Drive car" with the term "Self Drive car" - from what I can gather from reading various press releases, this is pretty much a regular pick-up fitted with a tablet. As far as cutting edge technology goes, one can install various apps of iOS & Android tablets to detect when one is drowsy; your regular Ford Everest has more high-tech safety features than the pick-up this tablet is fitted to.

It's all typically laughable, really. coffee1.gif

A Thai driver assisted by Thai ' technology ' ! giggle.gif

I think not.

If it is programmed by a Thai, I would not dare call it a smart car no matter what they claim it can do..
