Extending visa or border run?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am on my last few days of my 60 day SETV. My flight home is in another 60ish days from now. I could extend my visa one time at immigration now and do a border run in 30 days.

However, for personal reasons I'd like to leave the country now (for some neighbouring country). If I come back visa exempt do you guys think this would be a problem (since my flight to my home country is only 60 days from now and I would have to extend once)? Or maybe I should get another visa (which would actually be cheaper than an extension)?

I would go to either Vientiane, Phnom Penh or Manila.

Not having a flight out within 30 days would not be a problem with immigration if you decide to do a visa exempt entry. If you are flying back into the country it could be a problem with the airline though.

Getting a single entry tourist visa would be a good option if you plan on making a trip anyway. No need for any extension that way.

Thanks for the advice. Hadn't even thought about the airlines, but I remember they can be a major pain. I guess I'll just try for the visa but my passport is all covered in blue stickers, let's see if they hand out one more :)
