Birth Registration. Baby born in Bangkok. Registering birth in Chonburi

Our child will be born in Bangkok in the next few weeks. Can I register the birth at our local amphur in Chonburi? If I take paperwork presented by the hospital to Chonburi to our local amhur to apply for a birth certificate will it still be recorded as the child being born in Bangkok on the birth certificate?

Many thanks.

You have to register the child at the amphur (or khet in BKK) where the child was born, within 15 days. If you can't, ask if the hospital can register the birth for you. many hospitals will do that for a small fee.

Don't forget the translation of your name into Thai, as the birth certificate will be totally in Thai language.

You can enter the child on the household book where you want.

Do use the hospital service, it's totally unnecessary for you and the mother to go yourself

If the child is to have your surname then make sure that the childs surname is spelled the same as on your work permit or permanent residency etc, so you don't have to change later
