Longer visa for property owner?

Featured Replies

I own a condo in bangkok worth 3 million THB. I have heard if your property is worth 10 million it allows you a years stay. I would idealy like to spend around six months of the year in thailand and was wondering if owning this property would allow me access to a longer stay. Any information about this or ways to increase the length of my visa would be great.

Thankyou

Sounds like the METV would be your best bet.

owning that property allows you nothing but a METV or 2 SETV + extensions will do the trick

Do a little searching on the forum.

You can keep it the bank.
Buy a condo.
Or both money in the bank and s condo.

The foreign investor that wishes to obtain a one year visa investment must:

(i) have evidence of investing in the purchase or rental of a condominium unit for a period of no less than 3 years issued by a relevant agency or government, at a purchase or rental price of no less than Baht 10 million; or

(ii) must have evidence of investing in the form of a fixed deposit of no less than Baht 10 million with a bank which is registered in Thailand and has Thai nationals holding more than 50 percent of its shares; or

(iii) must have evidence of investing in the purchase of government or state enterprise bonds of no less than Baht 10 million; or

(iv) must have evidence of making an investment as set out in criteria (3), (4), or (5) with a total value of not less than Baht 10 million.

Hi, from your name I'm guessing your a Brit so could apply for an METV = Multible Entry Tourist Visa in your home country wich is good for 6 months or apply for a single entry tourist visa = SETV before you come to Thailand which is good for 60 days then extend at immigration for 1900 baht. After that you could go to Laos or other nearby country that has Thai consulate or embassy and get another SETV for 60 days and extend at immigrtion in Thailand for 1900 baht . That would give you 6 months here. Could go out and do it again if you wanted another 3 months or just cross border and comeback for 30 days visa exempt if your from a G-7 country..

Or just get a Thai Elite Visa for 500,000 baht and be problem free for 5 years.

Ouch! Renting short term for your stay here would have costed a lot less in the long run.
