Hospitals braced for first all-out doctors' strike

LONDON: -- Hospitals in England are braced for the first all-out doctors' strike in the NHS's history on Tuesday.

Junior doctors will walk out of both routine and emergency care from 08:00 to 17:00 BST in the contract row.

It is the first time services such as A&E, maternity and intensive care have been hit in the long-running dispute.

It is disappointing to see that, even after all the years of Tory lies and corruption, people still fall for their spin. Thankfully you are very much in the minority in the UK - most people in Britain recognise the benefit of having a free-at-source health service; most people can see the fundamental flaws in your proposal and recognise the inherent immorality of restricting quality health care only to those who can afford it.

And what do you think happens now at weekends? Do you think hospitals kick the patients out and lock the doors???

We had that system and we got rid of it just after the second world war. Now the overwhelming majority of the British people support the NHS, universal health care free at source. Even good old Maggie was a supporter and often stated that the NHS was safe in her hands. However good old Nigel Farage agrees with you which is why he is keeping so quiet about it.

Why do you think that? Emergency cover will be supplied by consultants so there will be no gap in emergency services. If you had a long standing date for an operation, that is a different matter, but emergency cover is still available.

I listened to Jeremy Hunt again this morning on the Radio 4 Today programme.

His main 'defence' to his rigidity is that this 7 day working was "a sacred manifesto commitment and we will not budge from that." It begs the question as to how many manifesto commitments have already been broken and how many people voted Tory, purely upon this manifesto promise?

I just hope the government seek a resolution after this 48 hour strike. All they have to do is withdraw the threat of imposition and sit down again and work out a reasonable solution. Like most disputes, it's not simply a question of whether someone works Saturdays/Sundays (they already do), it's the small print to which many of the public are not privy, or simply uninterested.

I think its more immoral to use the failing and sub standard NHS as a political tool.. when people are sick and dyeing because of medical negligence, dirty hospitals, long waiting lists for operations, lack of beds, and closure of smaller local hospitals.

Of course we could have a safety net system for the very poor.... but most of the 'poor' in the UK are fat lazy spongers sitting around getting benefits and popping out kids.. and their fat sedentary and often drug taking lifestyles cause most of their health problems in the first place.. which the rest of us working people have to pay for.

These strikes will cause lives to be lost and peoples health to get worse.... this is the immoral thing happening here...

And, after what I have seen of the negligence, incompetence, and filth of a typical NHS hospital.. with several friends dyeing of infections the picked up in these places, and other family members getting substandard care and misdiagnosis.. left to sit in blood soaked and urine soaked sheets for hours as the staff were too busy to change them.... I would rather go to an animal hospital to get my treatment!!!

They used to just sack the minister's servants, seems they've given up on that, now that people are aware of that gimmick.

What annoys me is that he talks about this election manifesto as if he has been handed a god given right to implement it. The Nasty Party managed to fool only 36.8% of the UK electorate which means that the vast majority of the UK rejected Conservatism and his manifesto pledge.

It is not that the EU is anti-NHS, but that it is rabidly pro-TTIP, which scares many people for many good reasons.
