Being Denied An Education Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am here to ask if anybody has ever been denied a Student Visa in Thailand (ED Visa). If so why?

I came to Thailand to help my Uncle out and Visit him for a while. I obtained a Student Visa for 6 months, and attended, but did not meet the qualifying hours you should. I had a Multi-Entry Visa so for my 90 day check in I would just fly out and visit another country for 3-4 days. Come back and get my stamp. I did this for almost 1 year...Even though my Thai school was only 6months.

Here is my Situation

I want to apply at a different Thai School. Phaya Thai Thai Solutions. They are asking for signed documents from my previous school not sure if they want an attendance sheet or just a document saying that I did go to the school in general. I am looking to apply and actually attend 100% of my classes, but am worried that I may get rejected from the School due to absences I have had in my previous Thai Language School.

Has anybody had experience with this type of situation?

Thanks in advance

I think all they need is confirmation that you attended your previous school and the number of hours studied. The MOE limits the number of hours you can study at one level of study.

I see no reason you would be turned down by the school or the MOE.

You need to tell us your passport country. An non-imm ed visa MULTIPLE will be nearly impossible to obtain from regional embassy. Difficult to obtain the single entry without paperwork from school. Penang and i think Vietinene Laos do single non-EDs. The single entry one (or the multiple entry one if you still entered on it) can be extended in the last 30 days. Not sure if 1 year extensions are possible. 90-180 day ones are more likely.

Honestly, it is likely easier to obtain from your home country.

Thank you very much.

I missed a lot of hours at my old school, so I would still be considered an entry level student. I am just worried that they will see I did not meet the required hours at my old school and then deny me the opportunity to attend this new school.

4evermaat. I am not looking into obtaining a new visa. I get my Multi-Ed visa from Miami Florida, and am returning back home to get a new Multi-ED for this School (if I decide to attend)

I just worry that I will get rejected from this new school and lose 10000 baht since they do not refund your admin fee if you are rejected.

I want to know if the Ministry of Education will look at my lack of hours from my previous school and decide to reject me based on that. If that is the case then I do not want to apply at this new school and lose my 10000 baht admin fee.

The school is probably just interested to check your complete study history, as i believe there are now limits on how long a student can study Thai language.

no doubt someone will correct that, but in general ive never known or heard of a school to reject a paying customer..

As for attendance, based on my experience, the same applies...

if you pay the dough they dont say no..

You need to explain to the school that you will not be applying for an extension at immigration and will not be getting a visa from a nearby embassy or consulate. That is why they want the paperwork from the other school.

You do not need the 400 hours for a year of study or 200 for 6 months to get the multiple entry non-ed visa.

Thank you very much.

You don't need a ed visa to attend a school. You can attend while here on a visa exempt entry or tourist visa.

.....they seem justified in their reservations in this case..

.as you admit it yourself that you did not fulfill the attendance requirements previously..

What attendance requirement. He never applied for an extension at immigration. They are the ones that want proof of attendance not the MOE.

I actually studied at Thai Solutions for 2 years. When I changed to another school they gave me a letter of record of attendance for immigration. The letter simply stated that I was enrolled there. No attendance details were required. No problems at immigration.

If khun June is still there, speak to her she is very good..

She was actually the one I talked to when I went there Today.

Thanks for the straight forward answer.

How was the school if you don't mind me asking?

Bottom line is going to be that no one here can answer your questions.

The school can decide based on your attendance that you are a risk to them and refuse you.

The MOE could look at your attendance and level not attained and also do the same thing.

The other thing that the school and the MOE can do is talk to the first school.

You sort of screwed up by not taking it seriously.

You are going to have to take your chances.

Expect to be grilled on your thai reading and speaking skills.
