Normally I extend a Non O on the basis of retirement. Have all the financial documents etc. But CM are saying, for the first time, that I must have a TM30 with a CM address. When in CM my wife and the children live in a house in my mother in law's name. However both she and the children have Tabian Baan and ID cards from Sukothai. We normally live in Nakhon Phanom. Here we live in a house which, for various reasons, is in my wife's sister's name. However her Tabian Baan and ID card have a Bangkok address. NP Immigration not happy with that.. My wife has an ID card and Tabian Baan with a Mahasarakham address. My wife and the children have quite a lot of land. Have Chanote; but no houses on it. Also my sister in law has picked up that she has to pay Tax on the very nominal sum that we pay her for "rental" expenses. Can't quite believe Thai Tax authorities and Immigration have some wonderful joint database!!? I have dual British/French nationality. The children have Thai Nationality in addition. I was for many years a Thai resident. I have now changed this so I am a French resident. I cannot get to the bottom of the present documentary requirements for extending a Non O visa. I could apply for an extension of visa on the basis of retirement, also Marriage; but it looks now as though there is a need for a 'Local" TM30. The other alternatives are to apply on the basis of being the father of Thai children, where you don't seem to need a TM 30 or simply to say 8888 and go to Laos for the day. Is there actually any need to have a "reason" for requesting an extension to a Non O as per the last paragraph of the TM7?

You can see why I have decided to become French again!!

They are now requiring proof of residence for all extension of stay applications. The TM30 is secondary to that.

Does you wife's sister have a house book for the house you are living in at Nakhon Phanom but is not registered in it? If she has the house book your wife could be registered in it. That would solve the proof of residence there. She could then complete the TM30 form.

In Chiang Mai you could get a statement from your wife's mother that you are living in her house and attach signed copies of her house book and ID card to it. She could complete the TM30 for you.
