EC told to consider action against lecturer who holds 'Vote No' placard at forum

BANGKOK: -- The Election Commission has been told to consider legal action against a Mahidol University lecturer for allegedly defining the referendum act by holding a “Vote No” placard at a forum held at Chulalongkorn University’s political science faculty on Monday.

Court rejects arrest warrant request for Phra Dhammachayo

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court has thrown out a request of the enquiry officers of the Department of Special Investigation for an arrest warrant to be issued against Phra Dhammachayo on the ground that the abbot of Wat Dhammakaya has never shown any sign that he will run away.

Dutch “horror dentist” jailed for mutilating many mouths in France

NEVERS: -- A Dutchman known as the “horror dentist” for mutilating the mouths of more than 100 patients has been sentenced to eight years in France. Jacobus “Mark” van Nierop, 51, performed what the court described as “useless and painful procedures”. It’s thought his aim was to defraud medical insurance and he took “pleasure at causing pain.”

Prince's sister says musician had no known will

Al-Qaida says it killed Bangladesh gay activist, friend
