Local administrative units to conduct surveys on construction of anti-drought dams

BANGKOK, 27 April 2016 (NNT) - Local Administration Department Director General Jarin Jakkaphak said local administrative organizations are scrambling to conduct surveys on planned construction of small dams in drought-affected areas.

Such dams must have permanent water gates for containing and releasing water to drought-hit areas in the provinces. Besides, they must not be located inside any national park.

Costs of conducting of the planned surveys will be entirely paid by respective local administrative units, he said.

A little late to be worrying about this! Instead they should be conducting surveys on anti- flooding and how to safe those flooding waters for the next year's droughts.
