If they would have enforced laws a few years ago, we wouldn't be in this mess now! 55555

Like preventing the rabble from blocking polling stations.

yes an election would have solved all the problems .....right

It doesn't take a genius to work out that an ongoing sequence of elections stands a better chance than the option you champion - which has an unenviable 80 year record of failure.

sorry but I don't agree, people were being murdered on the streets of the capital city and the reds (PTP) were threatening an escalation organising training camps and arming themselves and talking about partition, what evil mastermind do think was funding all that and also my I add that all of this was being openly sanctioned by the sitting government, how (deleted) up is that, the army had no choice but to step in, it was very quickly getting out of control and believe me I have first hand experience of such things.

some people either have very short memories or very selective

I understand what and why your saying what you do..However what do you think and what direction this is all going in now??!!! The resentment is gathering momentum and only getting worse daily...I'm sorry but sadly I can only see one end result to all what's going on and it's not happiness to the people !!!!

I think it is heading towards an election with a strong charter that will hopefully stop it happening again, nobody knows if that will be the outcome but I am willing to give it a chance

"He stressed that government officers had to enforce the laws so that there was peace in the country"

Hypothetically, if a government is overthrown illegally, wouldn't that make laws enacted by that over throwing group null and void, as their is no mandate from the people? I recall Snowden clip on BBC promo where he said (more or less) "It is not so much what governments do that is illegal as what they do that is legal".

In other words, it was a repetition of what has happened time and time again in Thailand.

As you say, some people have very short, or by omitting part of the past, as you have done, selective memories.

Do you really think the army had "no choice" but to step in? History doesn't seem to support you. The choice the army had was to support the government - they declined to do so.

Frankly, this charter is simply guaranteeing that it will.

Yes, a failure of all existing political parties. Something elections won't solve. Without rule of law, they can continue what they've been doing for 80 years. Corruption at it's worst.

It's a fairly long stretch to argue that overthrowing a legitimate government to further the interests of a privileged minority advances the rule of law.

And they haven't been doing it for eighty years, at no time in the past has the military allowed an elected civilian government to last more than a term except once.

A thought against the current government is forbidden, any citizens violating the laws on thought will be dealt with immediately.

People are being murdered and assaulted in the Capital daily, there's bodies turning up almost weekly, having met a grisly ends. Is there a point you're trying to make?

The Army was on the streets pretty much the whole time these attacks by the Reds were happening, I do believe at the request of the Government, were they actually effective in combating this?

Complete clap trap the Army had no choice, they could have actually stopped the protestors from seizing public buildings, they could have dispersed them to actually reduce the chances of attacks on them, quite simply put, no target, no threat.. if you really do have experience in these matters, then you'd know this to be true, very unfair on the protestors, but empty streets, nothing to attack.

You also seem to have conveniently forgotten what Suthep later claimed, that he had been working with Prayuth since 2010 to bring down Thaksin, and his proxies, now you might and probably will say "Prayuth denied this" yes he did, he has denied many things since that have proven that he's far from the character he portrayed himself to be, a man who sued for defamation with regards to a claim he had an overseas account, but didn't sue Suthep for such a bold statement? Why would he not do that?

You're right indeed, some people do indeed have selective and short memories.

A pity they're not less selective in enforcing laws.

Of course the law will be obaid at all costs provided they can cross my palm with silver no money for me no bothered arresting anyone
