30 day stamp

Featured Replies

Hi guys, newbie here! So I entered Thailand (koh Samui) 15th of April. Since my flight out will be on June 10th (staying almost 2 months), I figured with the help of this forum that I could extend my stamp for another 30- days if my first 30-day on arrival stamp expires.

I actually took a first look at my stamp just now, and I'm confused: it's stamped 15 april 2016 and 29 april 2016. Almost looks like I didn't get a 30-day stamp when I arrived. Maybe I should have left or extended my stay before 29th of april.. Could that be? The stamp is confusing me! I have a dutch passport, so I should have gotten the normal 30 days right? Will it give me any trouble when I will try to extend?

Right, if you arrived in Thailand by plane, otherwise wrong. No trouble if you apply for your 30-day extension on 02 MAY other than the usual overstay fine of THB 500 per day.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

As stated, you must go to immigration Tuesday. If the original stamp was in error, they will correct it. If not you will need to pay 1,500 baht overstay fine, as well as 1,900 baht for the extension.

Immigration is open today. It is not late to go today and get the stamp sorted out. It appears to be an error that does happen. That is why it is very important to check the stamp before leaving the arrival immigration area.

You might want to take 1900 baht and a 4 X 6 cm photo with you ask about getting the 30 day extension while there.

SalsaDaGema, you didn't say his nationality...

Are you sure to be from a country who get 30 days without visa ?

People from some countries get only 15 days.

I think he would be aware that he would have to apply for a visa on arrival and pay 1000 baht to get a 15 day entry if he was qualified for one.

A standard visa exempt is always 30 days at an airport. At borders it is 15 days unless from a G7 country. Only Cambodia and Myanmar get a 14 day visa exempt entry under a bilateral agreement.

Reread. He has a Dutch passport.

Would be 15 days at land border.

Thank you all for your replies! I guess I will go to immigration to get this sorted out, because I do have a passport from the Netherlands and I did entered Thailand by air, so I should have gotten 30 day stamp.
