Over 100 rais of Sungai Padi forest damaged by forest fire

NARATHIWAT, 2 May 2016 (NNT) – Officials ensure that an ongoing forest fire in Narathiwat Province will be put under control, while forest area destroyed from the flame spans over 100 rais.

The fire, located near Tase Tai village, Moo 6, Paluroo subdistrict, in Sungai Padi district has burned continuosly for more than two weeks. Over 100 rais of forest land has been damaged.

Firefighters faced difficulty extinguishing the flames, as water trucks could not drive into the woods, so they had to resort to dragging water hoses into the forest for about 300-400 meters instead.

Sungai Padi chief district officer Pairoj Charitngarm has stated that there are many factors that have increased the difficulty of extinguishing the flames.

However, all parties will be working hard to solve the situation as soon as possible. It is expected that the fire would be controlled within a few days.
