Greetings forum! I'm an American man married to a Thai woman & living in Bkk/Samut Prakan. My non-o marriage visa is set to expire in late July. I don't have a work permit or the 400,000 in my bank account necessary to renew. What's my best (cheapest) option to stay in Thailand (long-term)? I'm leaning towards the bus trip to Savannakhet(sp?), Laos to get a new non-o. Any better alternatives or any advice from recent experience would be most welcome & appreciated!

Laos seems like your best option right now. Can't think of a better way to get a non-o. Extension of stay is out of the question without the 400k in the bank.

Multi-Entry-Non-O

A multiple entry non 'O' based on marriage is the best option if you can't get an extension of stay. Easily obtained from Savannakhet without any financials.

You will get one year extension of stay from immigration with a statuary declaration from the US Embassy that you have 40.000 baht per month income from the US.
