CHIANG RAI:-- Customs officials are investigating a case of smuggling at the Mae Sai border crossing in Chiang Rai involving two Burmese men and a Thai motorcycle taxi driver.

The taxi driver Kaisong Khrongphiphob,33, said he was hired to carry a bag that belonged to the two men of Nepalese extraction across the border, Channel 3 reported.

Customs found the bag to contain 3 kilograms of ice, methamphetamine. Behind him was the man the taxi driver said hired him, Sayak Lamin , 27, a Burmese national. Rounded up later was Ong Charnmiaw, 27, another Burmese who was waiting in a Mae Sai hotel for his compatriot.

Sayak said he didn't know what was in the bag, he had just bought it on the Burmese side of the border because it was cheap. Sayak and Ong were in the area visiting relatives before going back south to Bangkok, he said. They had met a long time ago while working in Phuket, he said in broken Thai.

The ice was found concealed in the bag after it went through an X-ray machine.

Investigations continue.

The case was reported on the Facebook page of the Channel 3 news.

"The taxi driver Kaisong Khrongphiphob,33, said he was hired to carry a bag that belonged to the two men of Nepalese extraction across the border..."

A pathetic lie to save their asses...and face. This should qualify them for immediate Thai citizenship.

It's the catch 22 , the reputation of the various departments doesn't instill much confidence in the process of law , I remember of instances back in the naughty nineties when 2 Brit girls found white powder in their luggage before they left their hotel , they noticed surprised looks on the faces of the baggage Xray crew when they took them aside and found no powder at Don Muang , they reported this on arr at UK after 2 others were caught and claimed the drugs weren't theirs , the UK Embassy stepped in and the 2 were let off , I use to always check luggage before leaving any hotel , and still sometimes do.....................................coffee1.gif .

They are trying to create reasonable doubt, but being burmese we all know they are guilty.

Convincing liars . . . NOT! These guys are so crooked and stupid that they should be running for public office somewhere in Thailand. whistling.gif

Yeah right!

Well border trading is just about to get tested to the max and the conference or the Burmese people if this is some sort of shake down ..

...always somebody else to blame.....

...seems like drugs are moving in the vicinity 100x a day.....

...and yet officially I don't even know if a problem exists......

Nepalese guys?

Ong may have a case,as he was not caught in possession. He was picked up at a nearby hotel......taxi driver says sayak hired him....

let them spend a night or so with crazed Ya Ba addicts in a prison-cell, no shortages of caught morons or beasts around.

So the Burmese gave some Nepalese guys citizenship who would then work as labourers in Phuket and finally run drugs out of Tachilek in Myanmar into Mae Sai.

Maybe giving them citizenship might not have been such a wise decision after all.

Are bears Catholics?

Not even that. These two were Burmese citizens who were probably born in Burma and whose family originated in Nepal.

A bit like the way the POTUS Obama is of Kenyan descent.

Sayak didnt know wat was in the bag? But he bought it at the burmese side of the border cos it was cheap. Does the bag belong to him or not?

Put a fork in 'em.

They're done.

Innocent or not doesn't matter a jot.

Quite a few Nepalese migrated to Northern Burma during and after the 2nd world world war. These will be their decendents.

It's not my bag. My bag looks just like that, but it's of Chinese extraction
