May 4, 201610 yr Trying to find information whether is possible for non-visa exempt to apply for a single-entry tourist visa from any Thai embassy (i.e. in Indonesia, Malasia, etc)?Or do I have to apply from my residence country only? My situation is the following. Will be traveling for 6 months in SEA. Have a round trip ticket arriving and leaving from Bangkok so it means I want to enter Thailand and stay there for a month, travel to other countries and then travel once again to Thailand at the a few days before my flight just to leave. Applying for the METV seems like a waste since I just want to enter 2 times to Thailand so I figured I could apply for tourist visa before leaving (here in my country) and then apply once again to catch my flight back (from a Thai embassy in Indonesia). Thanks for any help! My flight is in June and am getting stressed figuring out this.
May 4, 201610 yr You can apply for a visa at any nearby location. Mexico is not on the list of countries that can only get visas their.

When applying for single entry-visa one of the requirements in return ticket, do you think there will be a problem when they see that my return trip is obviously way after the validity of the visa? only solution would be to book a flight for 30 days after I arrive to Thailand and show that as proof, but was planning on going by land from the north towards Laos.

If you have a visa then an onward bound ticket is not required by the airlines or Thai immigration. There are only a few places that demand "round trip" ticket as a condition for issuing a single entry tourist visa. You should speak to the Embassy/Consulate where you will be applying to find out exactly what their requirements are
May 4, 201610 yr Discuss your plans with the consulate where you plan to get the SETV. The requirement for onward flights within 60 days is not absolute with most consulates if you have a reasonable itinerary that shows why you do not have one.
May 4, 201610 yr A SETV is valid for 3 months from the date it is issued, and each embassy/consulate has it's own criteria for issuing a visa. Some do not require any flight bookings. So you could apply at one of the application friendly places during your travels as long as you buy the visa within 3 months of your second entry to Thailand.

Will do as BritTim advised and talk with my embassy. Regarding "application friendly places", any recommendations? (Probably would apply either in Cambodia, Indonesia or Malasia)

(Probably would apply either in Cambodia, Indonesia or Malasia) Of the three countries mentioned it would be best to apply at the Thai Consulate in Penang, Malaysia. Do not apply at the Embassy in KL. It is likely that if applying in Cambodia or Indonesia you would need to provide booked flights. Vientiane or Savannakhet, Laos would also be good choices.
