Trump Says Pirro 'Folded Like an Umbrella' Over Pool Case

Featured Replies

President Donald Trump has sharply criticised Jeanine Pirro after federal prosecutors dropped a high-profile vandalism case involving Washington DC's Reflecting Pool, accusing the US attorney of backing down.

Speaking publicly, Trump said Pirro had "folded like an umbrella" by abandoning the case, despite what he described as clear evidence that vandals were responsible for significant damage.

Charges Dismissed

The charges against a former Olympian accused of vandalising the landmark were dismissed by federal prosecutors.

A court filing submitted by Pirro, the US Attorney for Washington DC, stated that contractors were responsible for rushing the paint installation process, suggesting their actions contributed to the problems at the site.

Trump Rejects Explanation

Trump acknowledged there "may have been some contractor difficulty" but rejected the explanation that it was the primary cause of the damage.

He insisted the Reflecting Pool had suffered "major damage" because of vandalism and criticised the decision to end the prosecution.

Dispute Over Cause

The case has drawn attention because of the differing views between prosecutors and the president over what caused the damage and whether criminal charges should have proceeded.

Re: Trump reportedly considers firing Jeanine Pirro

Is Lindsey Halligan still available?

She does seem to have upset him?

My take on this is that there is still no definitive cause.

Trump’s “vandalism” line is politically charged with zero technical backing.

DOJ’s “contractor error” is a legal interpretation, supported by affidavits and manufacturers specifications.

But, while it's almost certain that the actual expert documentation exists, it currently sits in court dockets and NPS files, not public view!

Unfortunately, until it’s finally released, the true cause remains open to interpretation based on who you are going to believe.

I feel obligated to give a helping hand to the demented and insane POTUS and define for him what the term "Evidence" means. The old coot seems to think ego-saving fantasy equates to evidence, and so long as the dum-est of the dum(b) (aka, the few remaining MAGAs) believe it, it's admissible in a court of law.....as least so long as your attorney is the Court Jester.

Let's say a guy stole boxes and boxes of highly classified documents, including those classified as TS, SCI, Codeword, HCS and RD, and kept they scattered around, say, a wedding planner facility. Suppose he further claimed BOTH that he "declassified them with his mind" as well as claiming the FBI planted them. Suppose additionally that such a statement is patently false both because there is a procedure and mechanism for actual declassification that leaves a paper trail (which does not exist in this instance) and that documents classified RD can only be declassified by the Dept of Energy (as they related to nuclear matters). Finally, let's say he was ordered to return what he had no right to steal, and that he claimed he returned everything, when in fact he lied and continued to keep documents, necessitating a search by Federal authorities, as national security was threatened as well as the identities of foreign clandestine assets.

Donny, THAT ^ is what constitutes "evidence", which can be submitted to the courts without need a Court Jester to do it.

Trump said Pirro had "folded like an umbrella"

How would he know that?

In simple words: the contractor failed and Donnie was looking for a Scape goat.

And Pirro realized that of course.

She undoubtedly realized it from the beginning, but went ahead with the charge and inflammatory press conference anyway to make the boss happy. Although prosecutors likely lied to the grand jury to secure the indictment, Pirro and her staff were much less willing to subject themselves to possible sanctions and disbarment by lying to a trial judge in open court.

There are a Plethora of evidence if you care to look on line from the government contract to the specs for the product, product stipulated in the contract from the government is the wrong product for this application the product is called pipeline 5000 which is a spray on polyurea-polyurethane hybrid coating, you cannot cut it with a knife News flash: it’s impossible. the product is light sensitive, it de-laminates ,these coatings are very climate-sensitive. If done in direct sunlight, it could cause the product to cure too quickly and not adhere to the concrete. Also, if the concrete was not properly prepared at the time and not Shot blasted down properly, the coating would not be able to soak in. Additionally, moisture could have been in the ground at the time of application.

The coating used does not like Oxidizer, hydrogen peroxide is an Oxidizer so pouring into the pool does not help

The timeline was unrealistic normally several layers need to be applied and can take weeks

There was no due diligence carried out on selecting the product by the government, the product is NOT recommended for open air pools it was designed to coat the internals of enclosed pipes it does not take a genius to see the mistakes the government and the contractor made its a great advertisement to show the lack of due diligence and quality of workmanship America carry s out on its contracts

I’m sure Pirro if she thought she could get away with it would have been happy to crucify the guy,she just knew she couldn’t get away with it.meenwhile poor donald has be snotted himself in rage and tantrums because he hasent a scapegoat to blame….perhaps pirro will pay the price….fine with me!

One is put in mind of H.L. Mencken: "As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

When will his cronies learn no matter how brown your tongue gets you’re a whisker away from being tossed aside. Pirro must be the most butthurt person in DC and she deserves it probably.

Thank you to give your expertise. Now I understand ranting Donnie and Mrs Pirro's decision. 👍

Once met an Aussie fellow who thought Pirro was a comedian, and when I told him otherwise he refused to believe me. Well, unintentional comedian maybe.

I must admit that I am with Trump in this. Why shouldn't he insist that it was vandalism and to prosecute people? I mean, most of his people will believe him and will insist that the vandals be prosecuted. His followers are the real bad guys, Trump just does what many people will do if they think they can get away with it.

One can hope that more and more of his followers slowly wake up and peel away before it is too late, especially I hope that enough people will wake up and protest against whatever he has planned beyond the measures taken so far in connection with the midterm elections. But judging from his followers in this forum, nothing will make his most hardcore followers stop believing and defending him.

Maybe so, but Courts deal in facts.

Trump’s “vandalism” claim has no expert backing. The only technical evidence is the manufacturer specs, sworn affidavits, and NPS inspection reports, and we're told this points to seam adhesion failure, not knife cuts.

Yes, those documents exist but aren’t public. Until they’re released, the cause isn’t definitive in the public domain. That’s also why Trump’s assertion is invalid.

David Hearn's lawyers asked that the transcripts of the DoJ's presentation to the grand jury be made public.

Because it seems the grand jury was not given any real evidence, but rather Trumpian lies, Pirro probably got spooked that she could face punishment for professional misconduct, as could any attorney working with her. Maybe she isn't sure Fox will her back, so she wants to keep her license to practice law.

Sen Kennedy, a usual Trump supporter, even said this case is bogus. He wondered if Trump really believes the vandalism lie. He said, "we know Trump gets anxious when he has an unexpressed thought".

The US is at war, Iran hacked the Minnesota water system, but Trump wants attention focused on his vandalism lie.

Typical Trump to a 'T'. Never, ever admit he was wrong. Instead, as always, double down on the Big Lie and keep repeating it over and over. Meanwhile, every human being on planet earth, including Trump, knows it was not vandalism, and knew it from the moment the Olympian was charged. Even the company which did the shoddy, rushed work admitted they were completely responsible.

The super-hack Pirro, currently being run over repeatedly by a bus driven by Trump, should she survive needs to be fired, disbarred, and personally sued for millions. It's both horrible and scary that she was allowed to make up totally ridiculous and completely false charges with absolutely no evidence supporting them and then go on national tv and trash an upstanding citizen's reputation. That she blamed the Interior Department makes her actions even worse. Gross incompetence. The lying idiot running Interior needs to be fired and sued, as well--if his head can somehow be surgically removed from Trump's rump.

Happy to see an innocent man dragged through the courts, fined and even jailed......people don't get much sicker than that.

When a US Attorney appears before a Grand Jury, the only evidence presented is that of the US government. There is no counter presentation by the defense and the government doesn’t need to present any exculpatory evidence favorable to a defendant.

There is no judge present and no defense counsel, although witnesses can be called to testify. The GJ doesn’t determine guilt or innocence as it only has to determine whether there is “probable cause” to proceed to trial based solely upon the limited evidence it has seen.

This is why it’s a commonly heard joke that a US Attorney can obtain a Grand Jury indictment of a ham sandwich.

In this case, Pirro obtained the GJ indictment and made the claim that the US government had a “mountain of evidence” in the hopes of duping the defendant into a guilty plea deal. When he didn’t cave in, Pirro had no choice but to request dismissal of the charges.

Surely Blanche must have been informed this was going to happen or even discussed it with Pirro....... both knew the fall out would be huge........yet Blanche seems to be totally unconnected.....weird.
