ICT Minister denies receiving threatening phone call

BANGKOK, 6 May 2015 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak has refused to comment after rumors claiming an anonymous caller told Mr. Uttama Savanayana to quit his position as the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Minister.

Dr. Somkid declined to express his view when asked by a reporter about the alleged incident. ICT Minister Dr. Uttama has, however, dismissed the claims that he received a threatening phone call. He added he wouldn't leave his job even if he was threatened and would continue to do his best in his role.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan didn't mention the rumored phone call during the last cabinet meeting. They also did not caution any cabinet members about it either.

It has been reported that Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong also received a similar phone call. Royal Thai Police Spokesperson Police Colonel Kritsana Pattanacharoen urged anyone who received such a phone call to seek police help if they are concerned about their safety.
