Let's move this over to the Visa forum so the experts there can help you out. OK? A link will be left in the Chiang Mai forum.

What type of entry are you own now? Do you have a 60 day entry from a tourist visa from an embassy or consulate or a 30 day visa exempt entry you got on arrival (both of these can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office)..

You cannot do a crossing at Mae Sai unless you have a valid Thai visa for re-entry. They do not allow crossings for a new visa exempt entry. The nearest crossing that will allow the entry is the Chiang Khong crossing.

thank you I have a 3 month visa expires next week Thank you very much

You can go to immigration and extend it by 30 days, but then you will have to fly out of the country and back in if you want longer. Mae Sai is only good if you have a visa with a re-entry permit such as Education or Spouse. They quite literally won't let you exit Thailand because they won't be able to let you back in.

In Chiang Mai, tourist visas are done at Promenada, suggest you get there by 8.30am at the latest. Some days not many people, other days lots of people. Early is better, I've passed there at midday and seen dozens of dreadlocked-types vying for a place in the queue. Such people seem not to be early risers.

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
