The parade took place in the Bangkok Silom area on November 5, 2006. It was a lot bigger and busier than last year which is a good sign... in my opinion!

Bangkok, THAILAND (AFP) - A participant wears a costume shaped like a condom, while handing out free condoms to visitors during a gay parade in Bangkok.

The Gay parade was organized by local gay and lesbian groups to raise money for charities in Thailand and to help promote AIDS awareness.

Lookin' around the board and came to this thread.

Last year there was a gay parade and a load of other events for the Pride Festival but this year there's no parade; no pride in the park and no sports events.

I asked some friends why and they told me that last year so much money was misused by the committee that this year most gay businesses decided not to get involved or have seriously reduced their donations to Pride.

I know that there are some Pride parties happening in Soi 4 this week but why is there so little publicity for this Gay Thailand event of the year?

They have a website:

www.pridefestival.org which lists the events for 3-11 November.

Wonder what the costume will be once the circumcision options are implemented next year? A float with the Scissor Sisters?
