May 9, 201610 yr Hi, I have some questions regarding my visa situation. I'm French and I got a paid internship for 1 year in Bangkok. I'm a bit confused with the way to go with the visa. I probably need a Non-B visa? Which type of work permit do I need? Is the WP for full time job different from the WP for Internship? Do I need to apply for the WP at the Thai embassy in France or in Thailand at the immigration? How long does the visa last? 6 months? 1 year? (My internship last 1 year) Do I need to apply for any extension if I want to stay 1 year? In case of a 1 year permission, do I still need to escape the territory every 3 months? Thanks a lot for replying to those questions.
May 9, 201610 yr Unless the internship is linked to a Thai university you will need a "B" visa and a work permit (There is only one "type" of work permit) Your Thai employer should provide the paperwork for both and you should apply for the visa in France. The work permit is applied for by your employer in Thailand from the Labour Office. I doubt you will be able to get anything other than a single entry "B" visa which will allow you a 90 day stay During the last 30 days of that stay you can apply with paperwork supplied by your employer for an extension of stay based on working from an immigration office. You should be addressing these questions to your prospective employer.

Thanks johnatong. The extension is for another 90 days or I can get a 1 year permission to stay? 1 year multiple entry?
May 10, 201610 yr Internships fall under the non-ed category of visas and extensions. You should apply for a multiple entry non-ed visa that would allow unlimited 90 day entries for a year. You will have to leave the country every 90 days obtain new 90 day entry. Unless your internship is through a Thai university you do not qualify for any extension.
May 11, 201610 yr Author @ubonjoe: The Thai embassy in France clearly state that Non-ED is for non-paid internship. For paid-internship, they say it falls under Non-B visa. My question is: Are they the same when it comes to apply for a work permit? or should I enter the territory with a Non-B visa? @johnatong said there is only one "type" of work permit. So paid internship (that require a WP) is the same process as full-time job work permit? For a full-time job WP, the authorities require a Bachelor degree (at least). How is it possible to get a paid internship with WP since as a student, I'm not graduated yet and I don't have a Bachelor degree to show?
May 11, 201610 yr Ubonjoe (who is very knowledgeable about visa matters ) may have missed the fact that you are applying for a visa in France and that you will be being paid. I very much doubt you will be able to get an ED visa in France on the basis of a paid 'Internship' and if you do it is not possible to get a Work Permit (Which does not need a degree to obtain). I would suggest you wait to see if Ubonjoe has any further comment/advice.

That seems to be a Paris embassy rule others do not define a difference. You should try to get a multiple entry non-b visa since you will not get an extension unless you are getting paid at least a 50k baht salary. As far as I know their is no special application procedure for the work permit. A degree will not be required.
