Maximum # of days in advance for a Medical Certificate (Retirement Visa)

Featured Replies

In Immigration offices requiring a Medical Certificate (e.g. Amnat Charoen), how recent must it be ? I am due to renew in the next 10 to 24 days. Are there any changes to procedure that I need to be aware of at Amnat Charoen ?

A medical certificate for what?

Most medical certificates, generic are available at any doctors office in about ten minutes, without any tests.

depending where you are 50 -100 Baht. If you need H.I.V. and syphilis testing, you probably need to go to a hospital.

Not sure if Amnat are still asking for them or not. Since the certificates only take a few minutes to get you could wait until a few days before you plan on applying for the extension of stay (it is not a visa).

I see numerous posts on here that an HIV test is required for a Visa qualifying Medical Cert.

Not a bad idea, but I have never seen any document offically requiring that test for a Visa.

There is certainly no HIV test needed to apply an extension of stay based upon retirement and the medical certificate is not required according to the written rules.

I am not aware of any Thai visa application that requires a HiV test. Perhaps for a work permit.
