KRABI:-- police announced the arrest Saturday of a tour boat operator who they caught with guns and half a kilo of ice, methamphetamine.

The drugs were found in the house of Erawat (or Khee) Somthat, 29, along with two guns, a digital weighing machine and money, reported Daily News.

Erawat said that he phoned to order the drugs from a man he had never met called "P". He left the drug for pick up next to a road sign near the municipal offices. He then sold it in small quantities to users.

He said he was using the profits to repair his speedboat that he used for taking tourists out.

He was charged with possession of class one drugs with intent to sell.

And what is his likely sentence? A slap on the wrist while the Malaysians have been given the death penalty?

Nonsense. Look at the jails here, many of his brethren there. A simple possession case will often lead to 2 years or more already.

Can understand needing the cash to repair the boat, what with the gun? to scare tourists into his boat?

If he's like most speedboat drivers I've had the pleasure of riding with here, he can easily scare the tourists by simply his driving.

The jails here are well overcrowded. I sometimes wonder, what people like you think, what crimes the inmates have committed to be incarcerated there ?

2 years is not quite the same as the death penalty is it? What is right for one should apply to all but we know it doesnt
