Just had a week with the family at Siam Royal View koh chang...fantastic. Inexpensive rental houses with all mod cons and there's a small hotel there. If of interest pm me.

You didn't say "cheap"

Forget the name. There's a flower themed resort up at Doi Mae Salong past Chiang Rai which would be very romantic,stunning views. From memory, about 2000 baht a night.

Closer to Chiang Mai, there's an artist-type resort ( think it's called Mon Cham Valley ) on the road to Samoeng. About 1200 baht a night.

Just returned from Krabi - there is a Centara Grand which is located on its own bay and accessible by water taxi only... which the resort provides for free... quite nice - prices will probably be lower now for off season...
