Just out of curiosity, does Thailand have its own system of taxonomy, or does it follow the Linnaen system? If so, does it use transliterations of species names into Thai?

So if I was e.g. wanting to talk about Balaenoptera musculus (Blue Whale) with a Thai marine biologist, would he/she work with the same Linnaen name (so we could work from a transliteration)?

Binomial names are the main part of text in the Roman script in the Royal Institute Dictionary. The rest is English words that Thai words are based on, either as origin or as guiding the senses of a word.

Just as email addresses tend to be in the Roman script, the scientific names in the Linnean system are also in the Roman script. (The same goes for Chinese.)
