Comptroller General’s Department says its e-bidding system is secure

BANGKOK, 17 May 2016 (NNT) – The Comptroller General’s Department (CGD) has dismissed rumors claiming its employees revealed confidential information to companies that bid for a government’s hire-purchase contract.

CGD Director General Manas Jamveha said a picture captured on a mobile phone application Line was not from a screen of a computer inside the CGD’s control room. Mr. Manas said no CGD official was allowed to bring their phones inside the room during the online bidding process.

Despite their ability to access the database, the Director General claimed there was no way they could observe the process live as it was concealed even to the CGD. They could not have taken pictures of the bidding prices from the screen and shared among the bidders.

The final results was only revealed on the following day so the CGD Director General has insisted the online bidding system is secure. The system had only been breached twice last year and did not cause any significant damage to the auction.
