Queen Mother to Ordain Monks

Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk will preside over an ordaining ceremony for 140 monks at a pagoda in Kandal province’s Angk Snuol district tomorrow, according to the King’s Cabinet Chief, Oum Daravuth.

Mr. Daravuth declined to give further information about the ceremony, deferring all comments to the Royal Palace, whose officials also declined to comment yesterday.

Provincial police chief Eav Chamroeun said he had already organized officers to ensure the security of the King’s mother as well as other officials who will attend the ceremony, adding that provincial police were well prepared.
