The Ministry of Interior has installed Interpol offices at eight major checkpoints along Cambodia’s borders, the Interior Ministry’s Interpol office acting director Major General Lim Sokha Raksmey said yesterday. “So far, we have placed eight Interpol offices at Bavet, Poipet, and Cham Yeam…and others for improving border security and combating transnational crime,” Gen. Raksmey said.

He added that the offices would make it easier to identify and arrest criminals who have been flagged by the international police organization. Gen. Raksmey then highlighted the ways in which Cambodian police have cooperated with Interpol agents.

“For example, we arrested a Belgian man on alleged pedophile charges in Belgium after the Belgian government called for Interpol’s help in arresting him. We decided to transfer him back to his country,” Gen. Raksmey said. Major General Uk Heisela, the chief investigating officer for the Immigration Department, said that in recent years his department has cooperated and engaged with Cambodia’s Interpol offices to pursue international criminals.

Uh-Oh ... the immigration guards won't like that. Might consider the same on the Malaysian border. Seems like a lot of non-Turks like to use fake Turkish passports down there.
