Weatherman warns of Cyclone Roanu

BANGKOK: Packed with wind speed of 75 km/hour at its epi-centre, Cyclone Roanu is moving eastward from the Bay of Bengal at about 20 km/hour and is expected to make landfall in Bangladesh and Myanmar tomorrow and Sunday, the Meteorological Department reported on Friday.

The arrival of the cyclone will bring more rains in the northern, central, eastern and upper southern regions of Thailand with heavy rains in some parts of the regions, said the department.

Strong winds and choppy sea with wave rising 2-3 metres are anticipated in the upper part of the Gulf and the Andaman sea. Fishermen and sailors are warned not to venture out to sea for their safety.

People in several northern, northeastern, central and eastern provinces to brace for more rains as well as heavy rains throughout the week. Affected provinces include Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phrae, Nan, Uttradit, Phitsanuloke, Phichit, Tak Petchabun, Loie, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bung Karn, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Muk Dahan, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Ubon Ratchathani, Suphan Buri, Kanchana Buri, Ratchaburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

This cyclone is not strong, and its moving NNE, and not E. There is a lot of rain associated with it, but much as we need it, I suspect Thailand is not going to see as much as we would wish. True to form though the Met office are predicting the worst!!

No mention of Khon Kaen, but nearly every surrounding province get mentioned !

If it hits the said provinces, it would be impossible to avoid here.

It could miss it. Everyone avoids Garston so why not this?

The same for Kalasin but we had 40 millimeters of rain last night so we are satisfied for a few days...

I come from Huyton of course I know Garston. Actually it isnt that bad a place especially when compared to Page Moss
