Any tips/suggestions on the most cost efficient and/or easiest way to move a washing machine and 3 or 4 big boxes from Bangkok to Chiang Mai? Thanks!

hire a guy with a van. A couple of thousand plus gas should do it. It's door to door, and you can ride with it.

Its easy to get the van, just ask around the neighbourhood or in your condo building, it doesn't take long.

Where I live there's signs written in Thai with numbers all over the place, lamposts, walls etc. A lot of those are drivers or hire.

I'd thought the price a bit higher than a couple of thousand though, maybe 4-5k?

just ask security, maids, condo management etc..they will know someone

A Thai friend recommended getting referrals from neighbors and friends, rather than using the guys who advertise with hand-made signs on the street corners. I think reliability and dependability were the concerns.
