Ear candling -- very bad idea.

Removing wax from your ear is a bad idea unless it affects your hearing ability.

The wax in your ear has a function, but of course as in Masterpasser's case...........

People sticking cotton-tips and special "earwax-spoons" in their ears will suffer from ruptered eardrums or severe ear infections at some point.

I have had suction done with the videoscope which seems to be the best, syringing, and manual removal. I keep Q tip use to an extreme minimum, and use an antibiotic  min

I have had to get my ears syringed for years, every few months, and the hassle of making an appointment, taking time off work, parking, and the procedure was a repeated pain. One day, I decided I could do this myself. I made a hose that attached to an adapter that attached to the unscrewed shower head, and gave it a try turning on the warm water with a small amount of pressure controlled by my hand pinching the end of the hose. I directed the jet into my ear canal like the doctor does, and out it popped. Works like a charm every time since for years.

So the other day, I removed the shower head wand from the hose, and did the same.  This time it was a stubborn one, and I was able to remove one chunk of it, but the other wouldn't come out, and I could still hear the sloshing and popping of fluid behind it. After trying to visit Dr. Apichai yesterday who is closed till Wednesday evening, this morning in the shower, I thought I would give it another go. With great success, it softened up over the last 2 days enough to be dislodged and popped out onto the shower floor like a kidney bean. I can hear once again.

Doing it yourself might not be for everyone, but for me and my convenience, it is safe and easy once you are familiar with your ears and wax buildup problem, and have had the procedure done many times so you are familiar with the feeling.

As mentioned above and in other threads, Pattaya Memorial hospital also have suction/camera machine. ENT Dr usually in at 1pm.

My father was having problems and I went to the doc with him.  They just used a syringe type thing and washed out his ear.  Guess what came out.  Cotton from a cotton bud.  The doc said to never use those in your ear.

I use hydrogen peroxide mixed with water or white vinegar.  Works great.
