webfact Posted May 25, 2016 Share Posted May 25, 2016 Arrest warrant out for redshirt leader Kwanchai PraipanaUDON THANI: -- The Udon Thani Provincial Court today issued warrant for the arrest of a former active redshirt core leader Kwanchai Praipana after he did not show up to hear the final ruling in the case which he was accused of leading a group of redshirt protesters to assault yellow shirt demonstrators at a rally in Udon Thani province in 2011.Kwanchai was earlier sentenced to four years in prison with no suspension of prison term, and 350,000 baht fine for the charge by the Court of First Instance. But his sentence was commuted by half due to his confession to the Crime.He was granted temporary release on bail.He appealed the sentence.However the Appeals Court upheld the sentence of the first court.He again appealed to the Supreme Court.The ruling of the Supreme Court has been reached and an appointment has been set for today to hear the final verdict read by the Udon Thani Provincial Court today.However Kwanchai did not appear to hear the verdict.His wife and sons appeared in the court room instead amid a number of redshirt supporters.His wife said she could not contact her husband and was uncertain if he could attend the hearing.As the session started, the court called his name several times if he was present.After there was no explanation from his guarantor, the court then adjourned the next hearing of the final verdict on June 28 at 9.00 am and issued warrant for his arrest.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/content/164762 -- Thai PBS 2016-05-25 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is it a chance to give them time to dig out their hifalutin contacts, pay their bribes, make lame excuses or jump ship? Is it a chance to give them time to dig out their hifalutin contacts, pay their bribes, make lame excuses or jump ship? The way it is done in the West is dead easy and you always get your man in a cell! After giving him 4 years , the court first instance halved his sentence , so they let him out on temporary release on bail security , however the appeals court appealed and won a ruling that the original verdict stand , so he appealed to the Supreme Court and this is the verdict time , however he may have just disappeared. Some where very seriously injured ands he got sued. He got 4 years in 2011 but since he confessed it was reduced in half. So still 2 years. This is an old case with multiple hearings and appeals in a civil court.
