Hi,

Just gathering info and evidence for my first application for a marriage visa, based on my current non - immigrant O visa, which runs out end of May.

I have a couple of questions.

I've just been out the country, and got a new entry stamp on arrival, that's dated till August. Does this mean my current non immigrant runs out now in August, not May, as stated on the original visa.

Also, what's the earliest I can apply. Is it a month before the visa ends. Whilst back in Europe, I got a stamped letter from my bank, would hate for it be in valid come August time.

Thanks in advance.

30 to 45 days max prior to expiration of permitted to stay stamp (August) but bank letter for deposit must be from a bank in Thailand for extensions of stay.

  • Sounds like your visa expires in May and your permission to stay ends in August, 90 days from your last entry.

You can apply for you 1 year extension of stay in the last 30 (maybe 45) days of your current 90 day permit to stay.

You don't need any letters form your foreign bank. You need 400K in a Thai bank (for 2 months) and a letter from that bank confirming the balance on the day you apply OR a certified income of 40K pm.

If you have a multiple entry visa you get 90 day entries up to the date it expires. The enter before date on the visa is just that it does not limit the amount of time you can be in the country.

You will be extending the permit to stay you got from your visa not the visa. You can apply during the last 30 days of your 90 day entry..

You cannot use the bank statement you got to apply for the extension. The 400k baht must be in a Thai bank for 2 months.

A general list of the required documents to apply for the extension follows.

Unless you are applying at Bangkok you will need 2 sets of copies attached to 2 TM7 application.forms.

Proof of 400k baht in the bank for 2 months by way of a letter from your bank and your bank book.or 40k baht income.proven by a income letter from your embassy.

Copies of your passport photo page and every page that has any stamp or visa for Thailand on it. Copy of TM6 departure card.

Marriage certificate and a updated Kor Ror 2 marriage registry (Kor Ror 22 for foreign marriages)

Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.

Photos of you and your wife in and around the house. One must show you both with the house number shown in it. The number of photos needed varies by office.

Map to your residence from the nearest main road or street.

Proof of residence if not living where your wife's house book is for.

Some offices may want witnesses when you apply.

Hi

Thanks for the help there.

Looks like i may have an issue with money.

I have no money in a thai bank account, but i get over the 40k /month from the uk. i have a letter from my uk bank stating that i get this amount a month, bank statements, plus my letting statements, showing how much i get each month.

Is this going to be a show stopper for me, not having 40K /month in a thai account.

Cheers.

No it's not.

Get your UK income certified by the British Embassy in Bangkok. As long as it is the equivalent of at least 40K baht you are good to go. You don't need any money in your Thai account.

Im in phuket, so no British embassy. i was told i could go to the german embassy, ( as we're both in EU ) to get my income certied, which I've done, so hopefully that will be ok. If not, a trip to bkk it is then.

Thanks.

You do not have to go to Bangkok to get the income letter at the UK embassy. You can only apply for it by mail. Click this link that was posted earlier. https://www.gov.uk/g...hai-immigration

I am not sure immigration will accept the one from the German consulate. Best to check with immigration to confirm before trying to do your extension.

There is no German Embassy on Phuket either and if there was they would not assist you!

A consular letter confirming income can only be obtained by post from the BE in Bangkok ------------detail in the link

You need to register your foreign marriage at an Amphoe to get a Kor Ror 22.

You will need you marriage certificate certified by your embassy or by way of you doing a statement that it is true and correct notarized by them. Then the certification and your marriage certificate must be translated to Thai and the translation certified by the consular affairs department of the MFA.

Then you can do the registration and they will give you a Kor Ror 22. They will also update your wife's house book registry and your wife will be given the choice of changing her name on her ID card.
