BANGKOK, 26 May 2016 (NNT) – The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) has begun work to ensure that business operators adhere to ethical advertising practices and maintain good quality products.

Prime Minister’s Office Minister ML Panadda Diskul chaired a seminar organized to draft cooperation from business operators in protecting consumers from false advertising. He gave a speech titled “How to Advertise According to Consumer Laws” in which he explained all relevant regulations for advertising goods and services.

Deputy Secretary-General of the OCPB Amphol Wongsiri remarked that while advertising can help businesses in achieving their sales goals, the use of exaggerated or false information, the promise of premiums and luck-based rewards can be detrimental to consumers. He especially noted that businesses should not attempt to include promotional messages while announcing well-wishes for the Royal Family; as such an act is illegal.
