I've just got back from doing the annual renewal of my extension of stay and multi-entry permit. As was the case last year, things went smooth as silk again.

Arrived early (yesterday) and was #1 for desk 8. My TM.7 was completed, signed and had a new photo attached, I had the photocopies of the face page of my passport, the page showing the previous Extension and Multi-entry permit, the copy of my TM.6 Departure Card, copy of the first page of the house book, letter from the bank, scan of my bank book showing the appropriate balance. All copies signed beforehand of course.

The only thing the lady said I was missing was a photocopy of the first Visa page of my passport, where the stamps were showing that my Non-O(A) VISA had been transferred from my old passport to my new one (though that was over 2 years ago now). They didn't ask for that last year but meh, she whipped off a copy of the page on her printer while checking the rest of the paperwork.

She asked if I had a Thai Driver's license to use as proof of address as the copy of the house book doesn't have my name on it. I had brought a TrueVision Cable bill with me and she took that instead and gave me back the copy of the house book page.

Then it was the 1,900 baht fee and I had my little numbered card and told to come back the next day (today) after 10 am.

Went back today, collected my passport (they take your picture when you pick up your passport now, unlike last year). Made new photocopies of the face page, Departure Card, and new Extension stamp then got a ticket for desk #2. One person ahead of me in line. My turn, handed over the passport, photocopies and the 3,800 baht fee. Had about a 10 minute wait as the paperwork went from one desk to another and then I was called up to collect my passport and that was it !

So once again, about 40 minutes from the time the doors opened yesterday until I was out, and about 20 minutes today in total to collect my passport and get the multi-entry stamp, plus the 5,700 baht in fees and a couple hundred more for photos and photocopies.

I would mention that going early and going in the middle of the week probably helps as there seems to be fewer people then (unless Immigration was closed for a 5 day long weekend of course). Also, being freshly showered, wearing nice clothes (long pants, collared shirt, etc) and being polite also seems to help. Judging by some of the odours I encountered today, more than a couple people were in dire need of a shower, clean clothes and 2-3 tubes of toothpaste.

Off to mark my calendar with the next set of 90 day report dates and I'm laughing for another year ! Got to love it !

I didn't notice any reference to which office you used. You mentioned sweaty, odorous people, were you in a city or resort town?

I will be renewing my extension (retirement) shortly-having read your post,no mention was made of the new 3 page questionnaire recently introduced at Phuket Imm.(where I will be renewing) as being required at Jomtien. Was this the case? I wish I could do the same as you and complete both renewal and re-entry on the same day at Phuket City but last year I had to return the next day to get my passport back (2pm) so no opportunity(time) to do it. Yes I know,I can get my re-entry at the Patong office but that still doesn't stop me having to make 2 trips into Phuket City from Patong. On this topic, having supplied address details last year and have paper in passport, are the same documents required this and every year as well, even though I am still at the same address?

All relevant answers appreciated.

Boy, I sure wish that we could get our re-entry permits as quickly at Chaeng Wattana. It often takes 90 minutes or more there!

At CW you do have the option of doing a online appointment for it. See: https://extranet.immigration.go.th/qrepsonline/online/queue/REPSAction.do?cmd=term
