rooster59
Manhunt for opposition member Kem Sokha for alleged dalliance with a hairdresser PHNOM PENH: Cambodian police have launched a manhunt for acting president of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) for defying a second summons to appear at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to answer questions about an alleged dalliance with hairdresser, according to The Phnom Penh Post on Friday. At about 11.30 am on Thursday, a group of armed police stopped Kem Sokha’s car on Norodom Boulevard near Boeung Keng Kang market. However, Sokha was not inside.Shortly afterward, police accompanied by the prosecutor arrived at the CNRP headquarters on National Road 2 in a bid to find Sokha. The attempted arrest fails into murky ground – for ignoring a second summons – police can forcibly compel a person to attend a hearing, according to the Cambodian law. However, Sokha is protected by parliamentary immunity and cannot be arrested unless that immunity is stripped by the National Assembly.Police dispersed after CNRP members demanded they present an arrest warrant. But Interior Ministry’s spokesman Khieu Sopheak urged Sokha to turn himself in. “Today, he can run, but the next day he cannot escape,” he said. RIJoe
So they have a non-dalliance law on the books? Dare I ask the number, perhaps article 69?
NongKhaiKid
Imagine such a law in LoS, there would have to be a whole raft of special courts set up to handle the volume of cases. Of course double standards, special exemptions and ' hands off ' instructions would certainly whittle the case load down.
