Re-entry Permit - Reassurance of Requirements Please?

Recommended Posts

First time looking for Re-entry permit. I believe I need the following:

1 copy of TM 8

1,900 Baht Fee

Photo

Passport Copies - Main Details page and current visa

I have a 'Marriage Visa' and never used Promenada. I'd be grateful for confirmation that the above requirements are correct plus guidance on the 'queue' situation ie do I have to wake the Chickens up at Zero Dark O'Clock and how is the waiting experience compared to say Retirement Visas?

Many thanks.

A single re-entry permit is 1000 THB, a multiple re-entry permit is 3800 THB.

(You can obtain it at the airport on the day of your flight without having to deal with Promenada.)

A completed TM-8 form
A 2″ photo (4x6 cm)
Photocopy of passport (main page, visa page and latest entry stamp)

1,000 Baht for single
3,800 Baht for multiple

Get it at the airport, if pics have to be taken there add B 200.-

I'm very grateful for the quick replies. A pleasant surprise about the cost being 1,000 Baht and not 1,900. I also appreciate the mention of being able to do at the airport. I prefer to have everything sorted out before if possible but I'll bear it in mind.

The TM-8 is available on line. Saves some hassle if you fill it in before you're at the airport. Passport photo attached. Scan and copy passport pages as above, or more waiting.

The nice thing about the copy shop near immigration at Promenada is that you can just hand them your passport and say you need copies for your re-entry permit and they know which pages to copy and will only charge you 2 Baht per page.

I never use the copy shop for pictures and also have never had a problem with white background pictures at Promenada. The shop near my home that I use for pictures gives me enough pictures for 100 Baht to last a few years.

If you go to Promenada in the afternoon there is no wait or very little wait to get a re-entry permit.

Can you get the permit days in advance from the airport?

No. You need to have a boarding pass for the day's flight....you pass through security and then get the re-entry permit, prior to going through passport control.

Correct, and that would just make too much sense and be too easy...so you can't do it. I think you could get in and out of Prom moderately easily if you went about 3pm in the middle of the week. I am facing a similar dilemma.

It's pretty simple at CNX. Took me less than 10 minutes to obtain a multiple re-entry permit.

What are the hours that they have an officer on duty at Chiang Mai air port?

Is there one there at midnight or 6:00 in the morning?

I did it one year and was quite easy as they had two officers on duty and I was the only one there. But I have been through there at times and not seen an officer there. For sure you know they are going to take a lunch break.

I won't have a boarding card for my international flight until I get to Swampy, so I assume they won't issue it before I board the internal flight from CNX to BKK..?

Any time there is an international flight departing, there will be immigration officers on duty. If there's no one behind the desk, you ask one of the immigration officers at the passport control desks to do it.

If your internal flight from CNX to BKK is from the domestic side of the terminal, you won't pass by the immigration desk.

However, I do know that there's something called "CIQ" in the Thai airport system that allows you to clear customs/immigration in CM and follow the CIQ channel at BKK to your international flight. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the process (or your itinerary) to discuss/advise whether that will happen in your particular travel situation.

Thanks for the link. I can see a disaster happening if I tried anything out of the ordinary, hence I gave myself long enough to wander the halls of Swampy.

The official 'offoce' hours at Swampy are 5am to midnight.

Also, they requested I fill out another form which requested more personal information, such as email address, phone number, wife's details etc.

This is the new "Foreign National Information Form" that is now available at Promenada Immigration.

It is required with 90-day Notification, Extension of Stays (all purposes,) and Re-Entry Permits.

There IS a section for 'Frequently used Social Media" and "Frequently visited Places or Premises (such as Clubs, Restaurants, Shops, Hospital, etc.) but it appears to be optional.

Most of the form was treated as optional by me.

If you know....is the form required or used if you do your 90-day report by mail? Also, is the new form any part of getting a re-entry permit at the airport?

It says on the form that it is required for 90-day Notification, Extension of Stays (all purposes,) and Re-Entry Permits. It gives no other parameters. Personally, I doubt the method of submission nor the location of the office make any difference.

No required for reporting by mail - so far anyway. I guess they may start sending it out with the 90 day slips for the next report, but I doubt it.

The form was not required for my Re-entry permit at CW last week either.

they gave me the form at CNX...as It clearly states the social media stuff is optional, and only used if they needed to get in touch with you. BTW, it is two photos required.
