Need bird repellent gel (aka, sticky stuff)

Got pigeons nesting on my a/c platform, next to my balcony door. Very bad news as these useless pests are nothing more than that. Noisy and dirty...i don't want them near me.

Had some chicken wire barriers which worked ok, but the birds are truly stupid and keep returning, even sneaking under the wire and under the a/c. What's next?

Has anyone seen for sale in CM tubes of bird repellent gel, use like caulk in caulk gun? I'd try a tube but can't trot all over town looking. thnx.

I used bird spikes in a house in the US to get rid of pigeons and it worked perfectly. The bird spikes consisted of a plastic strip with metal spikes sticking out in a V shape pattern. I used Liquid Nails to attach the strips to my roof about 15 years ago and the spikes are still there. All of the pigeons moved over to the house behind us and the neighbor soon came over asking where I got the bird spikes. I wonder where the pigeons went next.

It reminded me of when I was in college living in a cheap apartment building. The building was sprayed for cockroaches once a month but only half of the floors were done on each visit, alternating between even and odd number floors. As you can guess they never got rid of the cockroaches.

I bought platic spikes and fixed them onto the guttering, and no more pigeons

My next neighbour used gel, it started to run down her guttering, created a mess, hard to remove

So my suggestion buy plastic spikes

Have not seen them in Thailand, so you to buy when your at home or mail them in

You were pretty close. It's spelled 'Daiso,' and they sell both bird (long spikes) and cat (short) spike plastic mats. The bird spikes work very well. We 'thought' the cat spike did too, until one day we came out on the veranda and found our cat asleep on the spike mat. Must be a Yogi cat...

There are quite a few Daiso around Chiang Mai. There is one next to Rimping (Nim City,) next to Rimping by the river, inside Airport Plaza, Maya, and Central Festival Mall. There is/was? another in Kad Farang, too. Great shops for better quality 20-baht shop stuff. Daiso is Japan's 100-Yen Shop chain.

Global House used to carry the spikes but couldn't see any this morning and didn't have time to ask when they'd be back in stock so worth a try. Otherwise, you could try Bird Tech which appears to be a specialist franchise: their site is here and they list their North area contact as Saravut 081-8814832. If you use them, I would like to get some feedback please!

Since my wife put a shrine in the garden and a small feast of food on it every day, the bird population around our house slowly increased to the point of it looking like a Hitchcock movie every day, just before she puts her daily offerings out. I googled the problem on the basis of a repellent, and the most common response was WD40!

I have tried it and reckon it is about 90% effective. There are certainly a lot less birds on my sills and on top of the AC compressor, with them now seeming to prefer to hang out on the neighbours sills and walls. With it being a spray you can reach out of the window to get the spots a bit further away. A small re-aplying every few weeks initially seems to have done the trick. They seem to have gotten the message. Worth a try. I couldn't find WD40 in the store i went to, but the copy product worked for me.

I can see the logic in 'bird spikes' but what is WD40 doing? And why not use 40 wt motor oil for longer lasting effect and cheaper. Just paint in on the surface.

I did buy some chinese fly paper, lays flat and is quite sticky. Will give a try. Bird spikes next is fly paper not working.

The gel is a really poor choice. I hope it is unavailable here. I bought some and applied it at the birds' favorite roosting spots. It gets all over their feet and wing feathers, so they fall to earth and are cruelly dispatched by feral cats, who then get the gunk all over themselves. After a while the stuff dies up and becomes ineffective. Pigeons have tiny brains, and don't seem capable of figuring out cause and effect.

The spikes, or WD 40 sound like better alternatives.

The smell keeps them away. I used it as a deodorant in my younger days when the birds flocked around me too much. Nowadays I need something to attract the birds - Brut doesn't seem to work.

I remember seeing a guy spraying WD40 around his house in Liverpool, and when I asked him why he was spraying, he said "to keep the elephants away". When I pointed out that I've never seen elephants near his dwelling place, he said "Yes, it's good stuff, isn't it?".

Ha ha. Brilliant. Au de 40 - gets rid of warts as well! Does actually work. I tried it.
