Australian rider dies in Isle of Man TT race

DOUGLAS, Isle of Man (AP) — Organizers of the Isle of Man TT races say an Australian rider has died following a crash in a sidecar race.

ACU Events Ltd. announced Dwight Beare's death on Saturday in a statement on the official website of the Isle of Man TT race.

The 27-year-old Beare was originally from Melbourne in Australia before becoming a resident of Onchan in the Isle of Man. He made his debut in the TT motorcycle races in 2014.

The statement said Beare's passenger, Benjamin Binns, from the Isle of Man, broke an ankle and was airlifted to hospital.

Isle of Man races are treacherous, with the competitions held on more than 37 miles (60 kilometers) of public roads around the island.

the price you pay to do the things you love, rip young man

You need a big set of testicals to race in that event.

Does "TT" stand for "TesticleTermination" or some such?

Sadly, it does in his case. RIP

Insanity...

I often wonder if the repeat racers at TT are not long term; 'suicidal?'

Similar to heavy smokers, and drug addicts.

They know the end game and don't care when it happens.

The ones that die quick are the lucky ones.

The rest that crash at 295k live a life of pain at great expense.

I have known a few guys who have rode in the IoM TT and they say they do it for the buzz they get. I reckon they are crazy when they do nearly 200 mph on public road, but each to his own thing.

Went to watch it once. Fantastic week, wouldn't dream of doing half the speed those guys do round the circuit . I would probably still be on the first lap when they crossed the finish line.

RIP Cobber.

RIP young man.

There is no way you would get me near it.

Sad news indeed of the loss of life at this race. I am however glad that the authorities still allow the race to take place every year and that people can do what they enjoy most.

That video is fantastic. Fair play to the riders taking part.

Yes it's surprising what they still allow in the so touted on Thai visa nanny state that is the UK.

Respect.
