PATTAYA: -- At 11.30pm on the night of June 5 the police and Sawangboriboon medics were called to the Jae Ruam Apartments at Huay Yai, Banglamung after reports of a murder.

Outside apartment 19, on the second floor of the building, they discovered the body of twenty-seven year old Pipat Duangsawang with a serious head wound and laying in a pool of blood.

His girlfriend Kanjana Julking, who is also twenty-seven, was waiting by the body and told investigators they had been out for the day and on returning home a man crept up behind them and brutally struck her boyfriend on the back of his head.

It was dark and so she did not see what the weapon was and could not provide any description of the attacker.
