November 12, 200619 yr Hi, I've just bought a PS2 in Thailand, version NTSC-J, but my TV doesn't seem to recognise the signal. The TV has 2 phono sockets but the PS2 lead has 3. The guy in the shop said this was a newer slimline PS2, so maybe my TV is not up to date. The TV has an 'auto' button which supposedly allows connection of PAL and 2 versions of NTSC. Not sure if this is how a PS2 is meant to be connected in Asia. Just in case connection was similar to the UK RF signal I did a channel search but still no luck. Is there anything I can do to rectify this problem, such as buy a converter etc. Thanks.
November 12, 200619 yr I know nothing about gaming systems (apart from the DS Lite - I'm an old fart ) but I do know that Thailand uses the PAL TV system.
November 12, 200619 yr Most "chipped" PS2s sold in LOS are NTSC machines but I think you need a fairly modern TV for them to accept the signal ( I think?). RF converters are available in the UK so I'm sure you can buy them in LOS but you may find games will only play in B and W. Try your machine on a newish TV and see what happens.
