Thai Airways Aims to Boost Revenue from Airline Partners
BY RENE EMERY

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International, or THAI, is looking to boost revenue from its airline partners as part of its plan to tackle one of its major weaknesses. The carrier aims to increase its revenue from inter-line and code-share partners to 25% of its annual revenue. Currently, revenue from partners account for 5% of the carrier’s yearly revenue.

Charamporn Jotikasthira, THAI president, is disappointed in the airline’s inability to capture income from its cooperation with other airlines, as many other carriers do, as a way to drive profit.

Last year, THAI’s revenue came in at 193 billion baht, much lower than the 204 billion baht the previous year.

Mr. Charamporn spoke at the International Air Transport Association event during a panel discussion, and stated that the airline is open to code-sharing and inter-line agreements.

The day Thai will enter the LLC market with it's own international routs flying airline like AirAsia, Jetstar

and Dragon air and many others, this will be the day that they will be making money again,

as it is now, Thai is old and lumbering airline stuck in the 80' and hoping to survive in this cut throats

business just because they're " smooth as silk ".......

On Thai Airways Web site , if I try to get a ticket to Montreal or Toronto. it is not possible... ( Amd they are Star Alliance member )

If if try ANA and United or Air Canada ( Star alliance members) The booking can be made and even code share with Thai is shown.

Maybe updating their Internet booking with other star Alliance member airlines to connect will generate more sales.

You might want to tell the airlines that fly to / & from Perth where they have us stuffed that the oil price has hit rock bottom, but continue to charge the same as previous yrs ( I travel every mth - no change )

I mentioned on another thread that part of TG's problem is their fleet. They have some of almost every jet airplane flying. They can start to reduce maintenance costs with a fleet rationalization plan. But that means they have to have a plan first.

I use the BA website and it comes up with alternatives such as Air Berlin or other airlines, go on the Thai website and all it looks at are Thai Airways routes. I live in Dusseldorf, Thai does not fly here.

The Thai Airways website is a joke. Their booking site doesn't connect to the frequent flyer program, and they can't even connect their own flight. For instance booking a flight from Chiang Mai to Oslo is not possible. You have to make 2 separate bookings both operated by Thai Airways.

Took my 10 year daughter on Thai the other week. "Smooth as silk Daddy, Thai silk isn't smooth it's rough and no one likes wearing it when we have to dance!!!" Says it all really.

Not sure what you mean ...

You can easily book DUS - BKK - DUS on their website and they will come up with your options of connecting flights to/via FRA and MUC (on LH).

DUS

Thanks just seen that, but why LH why does Emirates not appear, could fly Emirates to Dubai then Thai to Bangkok or even Emirates all the way through to Bangkok, here they are saying you have to use a Thai Airways flight. Or even a partner like Swiss to Zurich then through to Bangkok with either Swiss or Thai.

Whenever I have to fly to Europe (4-5 times a year), I always check the TG website just to feel good. Not only is the product below par compared to the likes of Emirates and Etihad but they charge at least 70% more. I inevitably book EK or EY (depending on the routes)

Try booking multi city as well - I guarantee that even the most ardent of THAI apologists will shut up.

THAI lounge is also crap.

The ONLY good thing about flying THAI is the fast track service on departure. I guess that's because they don't have that many customers utilising this facility

That's hardly a selling point for Thai, since you get fast track inbound and outbound on any airline flying business above.

True, except that the THAI fast track is still quicker than the regular Premium lane which is utilised by all the other airlines as well as a few other categories of passengers.

On inbound however, THAI business and first use the same fast track as the other airlines. Another rant is that this fast track is only in one of the two immigration halls (the one opposite D4). Another classic example of Thai organisation
