PWA will secure its own raw water sources for tap water production



BANGKOK: -- Predicting little rains in the next couple of months, the newly-appointed governor of Provincial Waterworks Authority has assured tap water production will not be affected and the PWA will try to secure new raw water sources as reserves.

Dr Seri Suparathit noted that the PWA has not had its own raw water sources and, as a result, has sometimes experienced water shortage to produce tap water to supply to consumers in the countryside.

Hence, there is a need for the PWA to have its own raw water resources as reserves so that it will be able to meet public demand without interruption, he said.

He disclosed that there are about 20 tap water production facilities which are at risk of running short of water to produce tap water. However, he said that a target had been set to reduce the number of these water-starving production facilities.

Despite the anticipation of less rains in the next few months, Dr Seri is optimistic that PWA’s water production will not be affected as water consumption amounts to only three percent of water available in the country.

But he noted that the agricultural sector will be affected because the sector needs about 80 percent of available water. He predicted that there will be more rains in August.

Unless there is a huge amount of rainfall for the rest of the rainy season I think there will be major problems next dry season. Reservoirs are very low and according to a family member who works for the local water authority stand no chance of being filled. In our own land we have two large ponds that never dry out........until this year. This week saw the last of the water in both which is hardly surprising as since the end of last October we have seen only 3 or 4 days with any worthwhile rainfall.

Personally starting to look around for somebody to drill us a deep borehole as that looks the only way to assure a supply to me.

Its a political thing and politico's always tell people what they want to hear it has a calming effect.

What happened to all that rain they are producing with the raining making thingy they invented. They are world leaders in rain production so what's the problem, just turn the clouds on.

So much for the recent multiple government department claims that the water situation will be ok, and Prayuth's statement that a 'joined up' water management policy, under his direct supervision, will fix everything.

Please draw your own conclusions.

However he has not said from where the new sources of water would come. What good are targets without concrete action plans?

So what about the prediction of the oxen? They must be held accountable.
